The Elephant Man

    I read the Elephant Man book. It is a true story about a man named Merrick, who lived some hundred years ago. He was a very ugly and poor man. He lived in a dark shop, owned by Simon Silcock the shopkeeper. Merrick was sold as the 'Elephant  Man' for  tickets to people to make them laugh and earn money. Merrick was a very interesting man. He can read, write, thinks a lot and kind man. He remembered his mother, she send Merrick to Silcock a long time ago.

    I thought the elephant man was lucky because he met Dr Treves, for example in chapter4
 he was not a normal person, and he was the laughing stock to other people. When he met

Dr Treves, Merrick's life was changed. He had two rooms at back of the hospital. One room was a bathroom, so he could have a bath every day. soon his skin was much better. The

second room had a bed, table and chairs. Then he could read, and talked about books, but he thought he could not leave there forever, then he wanted to go to the lighthouse. Dr

Treves helped Merrick, for example in chapter 3 a Letter to the Times readers to Merrick's story, and They gave a lot of money to Merrick, so Merrick could leave in the back of the

hospital rooms forever, Merrick was happy. If Merrick didn't saw Dr Treves, Merrick would not have had a friend, and house. He was just so pitiful, but Dr Treves helped Merrick, So

his life changed much better. Then I think Merrick was lucky.
